Could SuperBowl 50 Be Peyton Manning’s Last Game

Peyton ManningPeyton Manning, the quarterback for the Denver Broncos and future hall of famer has, this season, really begun to show that his age may be preventing him from being the high level quarterback that he used to be.

While the media and the fans have realized this, we finally have some indications that Peyton Manning may too realize that his career is coming to an end, perhaps as soon as the final whistle blows on SuperBowl Sunday where the Broncos are set to take on the NFC Champion Carolina Panthers.

After the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots, a game the Broncos won 20-18, Peyton met and hugged Patriots head coach bill Belichick at mid field. Cameras on the moment captured audio of Manning saying, “”Hey, listen, this might be my last rodeo. So, it sure has been a pleasure.”

Manning has faced off against the Belichick led Patriots an impressive 20 times in his career, winning 8 of those matchups. Of those 20 games played, 5 of them occurred during the playoffs; of those games, Manning has won 3.

This SuperBowl will be Manning’s 4th appearance in a SuperBowl, but he will still be seeking just his 2nd win in the big game, with his only SuperBowl championship coming 9 years ago in SuperBowl XLI against the Chicago Bears.

Peyton Manning has been one of the premiere quarterbacks in the league since being drafted by the Indianapolis Colts. Manning, by the numbers, is one of the best quarterbacks in the history of the NFL.

If it turns out that SuperBowl 50 is set to be Manning’s last game, Denver may  just have a little extra motivation to try and get Manning one last ring before he decides to hang up the jersey and call it a career.

Manning was last in SuperBowl XLVIII, where he and the Denver Broncos were thoroughly dominated against the eventual champion Seattle Seahawks, and he lost to the New Orleans Saints in the SuperBowl Manning appeared in prior.

There can be no question that Manning is certainly one of the best quarterbacks of this generation, and has to be in the conversation as one of the best quarterbacks of all time. Adding another ring to his legacy would help cement him as one of the greatest players in the history of the NFL.

While the Broncos organization, and Peyton Manning will have to focus on the game in coming weeks, his retirement will certainly be a storyline coming in to the game.
