Carolina Panthers Steamroll Arizona Cardinals; Advance To SuperBowl 50

Cam NewtonThe Carolina Panthers proved on Sunday night that they are not only the best team in the NFC with their dominant victory over the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship, but they look to possibly be the best team in the NFL as they demolished the Cardinals a frightening 49-15.

Cam Newton, the quarterback for the Panthers put up another dominant display as the Arizona defense failed to keep them from marching up and down the field and into the endzone long enough for their offense to mount any kind of comebakc.

As dominant as the Panthers were on offense, they were equally vicious on the defensive side of the ball, forcing an incredible 7 turnovers as the Cardinals offense was rendered virtually impotent against the stalwart defense of Carolina.

It’s hard to pick out what the Panthers did this Sunday that was the most dominant, their offense was strong, their defense had one of the best single game play off performances in recent history, perhaps even in the history of the NFL playoff system, and their special teams played a great game, forcing a turnover themselves.

There was nothing that the Panthers couldn’t do on the field, thoroughly dominating the entire game.

The loss ends the SuperBowl dreams of the Arizona Cardinals, one of the more surprising teams in the league this year, who played their way to be the champions of the NFC West despite many experts predicting the Seattle Seahawks to once again win the division.

Despite their excellent play through most of the season, there was nothing the Cardinals could put together to throw off the Panthers, extending their streak of seasons without a championship victory to 68 seasons, the longest such streak in the NFL, and second longest in American professional sports, behind only the Chicago Cubs, who are 107 seasons without a championship.

The Carolina Panthers earned their first SuperBowl berth since SuperBowl XXXVIII where they lost to the New England Patriots. Should the Panthers be victorious in two weeks against the AFC Champion Denver Broncos, it will be  the first title in the history of the franchise.

looking at what the Panthers have accomplished this season, it’s impossible to be surprised that they find themselves in the SuperBowl this season as they have looked from the very onset of the season to be one of the best teams in the NFL.

While the answer won’t be official until the final whistle on February 7th for SuperBowl 50, the Panthers made a strong case today that they may be the best team in the NFL.
