Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery are listed questionable for the Bears matchup versus the Denver Broncos. Jeffery has battled injuries the entire year, missing a month of the regular season with a pulled hamstring. He returned to post three straight 100-yard receiving games (147 yards at Detroit, 116 yards vs. Minnesota and 151 yards at San Diego) before tweaking his groin at practice nine days ago.On the year, Jeffery has 36 receptions for 515 yards and two touchdowns in five games.
Forte is trying to come back from MCL sprain he suffered on November 1. Forte Has rushed for 548 yards and leaves the Bears with 767 yards from scrimmage.
“I still have to play it smart,” Forte said. “I was talking to our head trainer and coach John Fox about it. We have two games in five days [the Bears play at Green Bay on Thanksgiving] and so I have to be smart about it. I don’t know what our plan is right now.
“But [the recovery process] is actually going faster than I thought because the last time I had this injury [in 2011] it was really four weeks before I started running. This time I started running about a week and a half after I got hurt, even though I just ran straight ahead. Painwise it’s been a lot better than before, and therefore a quicker recovery. I’m pretty close.”
While Jefferey and Forte Or important pieces to the Bears offense, Jay Cutler has been playing his best football since he left the Broncos, And will need to carry the team again on Sunday. The Broncos defense has 32 sacks, 12 forced fumbles, and nine interceptions. if the bears are to be competitive, must protect the football.
